The official Opening Ceremony of the “Acting for Peace” short course in Imst last night attracted many guests – from the curious ones, to those who were in any way involved in the process of making our summer course realizable. Nicole Müller from Imst, an alumna of UWCAD in Duino and one of the local initiators, was the Master of Ceremony. Franz Fischler, honorary president of UWC Austria, welcomed the participants to Imst – along with Wolfgang Dietrich, academic coordinator for the course and UNESCO Chair for Peace Studies, Augusta Campagne, President at UWC Austria, and the Mayor of Imst Stefan Weirather.
The ceremony was accompanied with interludes by local musicians, and was finally concluded with a poem reading. The guests then had the chance to intermingle with each other at the buffet prepared in the Café Rosengartl – participants, organizers, supporters, tutors and local partners, all brought together to this beautiful town in the Alps.
To feel some of the atmosphere that ornamented the opening of the 1st UWC short course in Austria, we prepared a visual treat for those of you who did not get the chance to be with us last night:
