About Us

Welcome to Acting for Peace!

Since 1987 UWC short courses have been changing the lives of young people all over the world by encouraging them to take up a global view on the important issues of our times. The aim of the Austrian UWC short course is to spread the mission and values of UWC such as international and intercultural understanding, personal responsibility and integrity, mutual responsibility and respect, compassion and service, a sense of idealism, personal challenge and action and personal example.

Between the 2nd and the 16th of August, the UWC short course “Acting for Peace” invites 30 young people from Europe and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to bring along their enthusiasm and curiosity to tackle the different questions that conflict transformation raises. During this short course our participants will not only meet unique individuals – they will work further and live closely with them. This will allow them to connect and exchange ideas with like-minded students. Our young actors for peace will take part in a programme designed by our academic coordinator, the UNESCO Chair for Peace Studies in Innsbruck.

ACTING FOR PEACE – The Art of Conflict Transformation concentrates on conflict transformation through discussions, actions and social services, as well as catering for talented young people who do not have the possibility to join a UWC College.

So please join us as we share our experiences, adventures and reflections this August from Imst. Happy reading!
